On 11 October SACIA is hosting a half-day workshop at the Cape Town Lodge Hotel in Buitengracht St. It starts with a networking breakfast at 8am and then expands into a series of presentations that focus on the use of AV technology in the Western Cape. We're still working on the final programme but we've got some great presentations on the planning board, including presentations from David Caplan, head of the AV unit at Old Mutual; Marianne Dirker from the SA Navy in Simonstown; Peter Robson, managing director of Isenzo Broadcast and Prof. Johannes Cronje from Cape Peninsula University. Prof. Cronje will lead a panel discussion on standards, training and skills development in the visual communications industry.
We'll also have a number of vendor-specific presentations to round off the session, with JVC’s Chris Darnley showing of the company’s new GY-HM650 camcorder. With its innovative live streaming feature, this camcorder enables footage to be streamed live at the same time as recording full HD to the SDHC/SDXC memory card.
There's no charge for the workshop but there are a limited number of seats available so if you are interested in attending I'd appreciate it if you'd send me an RSVP and confirm your participation.
